The North Central Missouri College Pirates picked up a walk-off triple from Connor Quick in a 6-5 win on Tuesday morning against Fulton-Montgomery Community College.
A home run by Curtis Mitchell got the North Central offense going in the fourth inning, with NCMC scoring three runs in the 5th inning, powered by a homer by Enrique Madera and a run-scoring single by Jared Fry.
Fulton-Montgomery scored three runs in the top of the 4th inning, then tied the contest with a run in the 6th.
Pirate reliever Bo McSpadden earned the victory by recording the final two outs in the top of the 7th inning.
The Pirates successful weekend in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina ended with North Central improving to 10-9, winners of five of the six games played during the spring break event at the Ripken Experience.
On Monday, the Pirates pounded Southern Maryland 15-1, as Derek Hussey had a 4-for-4 game, with Brendley Martina, Connor Quick, and Quinsly Balentien adding multi-hit efforts. Â The Pirates batted around in the first inning in grabbing a commanding lead, with Hussey singling and doubling in the first inning.
Against Ocean County College, on Monday night, the Pirates rolled to a 16-5 win, with an eight-run outburst in the 6th inning providing the momentum for North Central Missouri College.
The game was tied at 4 after a four-run 4th inning by Ocean County. Â The Pirates sixth inning surge saw a single by Connor Quick, Â a walk to Jared Fry, followed by another walk, a triple by Hussey, and a run-scoring ground out.
Wade Phillips earned the pitching win for North Central, going four innings, while giving up five runs and six hits.
NCMC won its final five games played at Myrtle Beach, after losing the front-end of a Saturday doubleheader to Elgin Community College, 9-3. Â The Pirates rebounded with a 7-5 win over Elgin in the night-cap, then took a 5-3 win over Harper College on Sunday.
The Pirates will host a four-game series this weekend (two games Saturday, two games Sunday) against Jefferson College at Burleigh Grimes Field in Trenton.
