The NCMC Softball team earned two Region 16 wins on Tuesday and Wednesday, defeating Metropolitan CC and State Fair CC. The Pirates now stand at 29-20 overall and 13-15 in Region 16 play.
On Tuesday, NCMC beat Metropolitan CC 8-5 and 12-10, with Gracie McKinnie driving in five runs in the first game. Hope Helton and Hailey Shepardson hit home runs in the second game.
On Wednesday, the Pirates defeated State Fair CC 9-8 and 12-4, with Brookelynn Becker, Addison Huber, and Hope Helton hitting two-run homers in the first game. Cassi Rodgers pitched the win. In the second game, Maeve Lavoy hit a three-run homer and earned the win, while Becker added a solo shot and Rylie Boyer sealed the victory with a walk-off single in the sixth inning.
The Lady Pirates will begin postseason play in Poplar Bluff on Saturday into Sunday, competing in the NJCAA Division 1, Region XVI sub-region tournament against Three Rivers Community College.
