The National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) has announced Academic All-Americans for the 2019-2020 school year, with twenty-five student-athletes from North Central Missouri College earning recognition with either first, second, or third team status. First-team honors went to those with perfect 4.0 GPA’s, with the second rung going to 3.80-3.99 on the scale, and the third-teamers from 3.60 to 3.79.
Named first-team Academic All-Americans from North Central were Trenton native Taylor Richman on the Lady Pirate softball team, Lady Pirate basketball players Taylor Wagner of Polo and Lily Osborn of Stanberry, in addition to women’s golfer Carson Hall, men’s golfers Fredrik Hersley and Martin Stegberg, and NCMC baseball player Koby Linder.
Two Trenton natives, both members of the softball program at NCMC, earned second-team status, in Salem Croy and Sidney Lynch. Others from Lady Pirate softball on the second team are Jaele Barber, Jentry Copple, and Maycee Edgar. Colton Barnes from men’s golf, Anna Clariday of women’s golf, Kennedie Kieffer of Chillicothe from women’s basketball, and Cash Miller from baseball were also recognized.
With third-team All-American academic honors were Jackson Boenker, Logan Eickhoff, and Braxton Pennington from baseball; Josie Deen from softball, Demarius Houston from men’s basketball, Kayla Koester from women’s basketball, Brooke Wendler of women’s golf, and the men’s golf due of Trey Howell and Primin Kamm.
Three NCMC squads posted team GPA’s north of 3.00 for the season. Men’s golf had 3.66, just 0.01 points short of a back-to-back academic team national championship. Softball had a 3.35 ERA and women’s basketball 3.05.
