According to a person with knowledge of the deal, the Atlanta Hawks have reached a four-year, $120 million contract extension with guard Dejounte Murray. The extension will keep Murray alongside Trae Young in the Hawks’ backcourt for five years, until the 2027-28 season. The person spoke to the Associated Press on the condition of anonymity as the extension has not been officially announced.

Murray hinted at the agreement on his Twitter account, expressing his loyalty to Atlanta and his excitement about the deal. The contract extension solidifies the Hawks’ commitment to their backcourt pairing and comes after the team traded forward John Collins to the Utah Jazz to create cap space for the extension.

Murray, 26, had an impressive season with the Hawks, averaging 20.5 points and 6.1 assists per game. He formed a dynamic scoring duo with Trae Young, but despite their efforts, the team had a disappointing playoff run and was eliminated in the first round. The Hawks finished the season with a 41-41 record, unable to recapture the success they had in reaching the Eastern Conference finals in 2021.
