Chase Elliott claimed the Sunday NASCAR Cup series race in Martinsville, Virginia, claiming a coveted spot in the “Final 4” for the season finale at Phoenix on Sunday, November 8th.

In racing action heard on Hot Country Z 101.7, Kevin Harvick had his championship hopes dashed by a subpar showing, leaving Elliott to battle with Joey Logano, Denny Hamlin, and Brad Keselowski for the sport’s biggest prize.  Harvick’s collapse was a stunner within the sport, as he had been the odds-on favorite to win the Cup championship for much of the season, after winning nine races, but, with a 17th place finish at Martinsville, finishing eight points shy of a final qualifying spot.

The final four matchup will feature a pair of Ford drivers from Roger Penske’s stable, in Keselowski and Logano, against a Chevrolet driver in Elliott, the first Hendrick driver to reach the finale since Jimmie Johnson in 2016, and Hamlin, who drives a Toyota.

In addition Harvick, Alex Bowman, Kurt Busch, and Martin Truex Jr. were eliminated from championship contention by virtue of Sunday’s finishing order.

Sunday’s season finale from Phoenix Raceway will be broadcast on Hot Country Z 101.7 and the Motor Racing Network, with coverage starting at 12:30 CT.
