CHILLICOTHE, Mo. — For the first time in franchise history, the Chillicothe Mudcats are hosting the MINK League’s All-Star Game. This marks the 3rd edition of the game, with St. Joseph serving as the host the last two summers at Phil Welch Stadium. The Chillicothe edition of the All-Star GAme will start just past 7 o’clock tonight (Thursday) at Shaffer Park.
Thursday’s activities begin at 10 am with the Milbank Mills, Inc. “Pro Scout Day.” Major League Baseball and Collegiate scouts will observe selected MINK League players showcasing their running, fielding, throwing and pitching talents. The “Pro Scout Day” is open to the public and free of charge.
Gates will re-open at 4 pm and the Hedrick Medical Center “Home Run Derby” will begin at 5 pm. Tickets are $5 for adults, $1 for 17 and under. The first 300 fans 18 and over will receive a free Missouri Lottery Scratchers Ticket. Each MINK League team will be represented by one contestant in the round robin tournament. The “Home Run Derby” champion will be crowned at 6:30.
The “Home Run Derby” will be followed by the Pepsi-Cola “MINK League All-Star Game” at 7:05 pitting the MINK League North All-Stars vs. the South All-Stars. There will be no additional admission charge for the All-Star Game if you attend the Home Run Derby. The Mudcat Grill and Mudcat souvenir shop will be open all day.
