The Chillicothe Mudcats defeated the United States Military Wardogs on Saturday night, emerging victorious in a 13-11 final in a non-league test at Shaffer Park in Chillicothe. The game marked the final stop of the Wardogs’ No Man Left Behind Tour, after which the players will return to their bases.
The game showcased some unusual occurrences for the Mudcats, including pitchers hitting and position players taking on pitching duties. Outfielder Nathan MacLaren and RHP Justice Ramirez assumed the role of coaches, stepping in for Tyler Hudlow and Troy Figg.
RHP JJ Tylicki hit a leadoff triple in the eighth inning, displaying his ability to provide a powerful performance off the bench. RHP Karter Muck started as the designated hitter (DH) and had an impressive outing, going 2-2 with a walk. Muck has yet to make an out at the plate in the two offensive games he has played this season.
RHP Jaydon Cabezudo started the game for the Mudcats and had a notable performance, throwing three scoreless and hitless innings while recording six strikeouts. Cabezudo has consistently impressed in recent league outings, establishing himself as a key contributor to the Mudcats’ pitching staff.
