The Chillicothe Mudcats used the strength of two big innings to rout the Jefferson City Renegades by a score of 12-6 on Saturday night. The ‘Cats scored five runs in the top of the 3rd inning, and put the game away with four tallies in the top of the 7th.
Clean-up hitter Justin Blasinski had a big night for Chillicothe, with four hits in five at-bats and two RBI’s. Leadoff hitter Ramger Iglesias drove in three runs for the Mudcats, while second baseman Anthony Lantigua had three hits, and first baseman Chris Peres scored twice, with three base hits.
Parker Kirkpatrick earned the victory for Chillicothe, with Travis Hennessy saddled with the loss for the expansion Renegades, who had two runs in the bottom of the 1st inning to claim a short-lived 2-1 lead, and added three runs in the bottom of the 9th, making the final score look more respectable. The Mudcats are now 1-1 on the season and in MINK League play.
The Mudcats game on Sunday night was rained out in Jefferson City. Chillicothe returns to Shaffer Park to host the Cassville Arrows tonight (Monday night) at 7:05.
