The Missouri State High School Activities Association (MSHSAA) has recently approved changes to the MSHSAA Basketball Tournament series. These changes include an additional competition date for both Show-Me Showdowns and a new site selection process for Sectional and Quarterfinal basketball games.

The Class 1-3 Show-Me Showdown will now span over four days and evenings. For the upcoming year, the corresponding dates will be March 6th through March 9th. In the 2023-24 cycle, the March 6th date will feature the Class 2 Girls and Boys and the Class 1 Girls semifinals. The trophy games will be held on March 7th. On March 8th, the Class 1 Boys semifinals and the Class 3 Girls and Boys games will take place, with their trophy games scheduled for March 9th. All Show-Me Showdown games will be held at Mizzou Arena.

For the Class 4-6 Show-Me Showdown, the dates will be March 13th through the 16th. Again, all games for this showdown will be held at Mizzou Arena.

The site selection process for the Sectional and Quarterfinal basketball games has also changed. Previously, the sites were pre-determined. However, the new process will determine the host based on the bracket, similar to other team sports. In odd-numbered years, the top team on the bracket will be the host, while in even-numbered years, it will be the bottom team. There will also be a minimum seating requirement for these sites, which will be determined by the MSHSAA Office based on class and historical data on tickets sold.

These changes were initially considered and recommended by the Advisory Committees and later approved by the MSHSAA Board of Directors.
