South Harrison High School (3-2, 1-0) beat Trenton High School (4-1, 0-1)Â in an early-season Grand River Conference girls basketball showdown on Tuesday night, taking a 48-46 victory in action heard on KTTN FM 92.3.
Tied at 46 with seven seconds remaining in the fourth quarter, South Harrison’s Abby Molloy took the ball at her own free-throw line and drove the length of the court to hit the game-winning basket, finishing a 10 point night. Lexi Hunter led the Lady Bulldogs with 13 points, with Abby Owens adding 11.
For Trenton, 43 of the Lady Bulldogs points were scored by the senior trio of Astrid Soriano (15), Mirena King (15), and Kaegan Croy (13 points). Trenton suffered a loss for the first time this season.
Trenton will next play at Chillicothe on Friday night (6 o’clock on KTTN FM 92.3), with South Harrison hosting Maryville on Thursday night and Brookfield in GRC action on Friday night. Trenton’s next GRC contest will be at Brookfield on Tuesday, December 17th (KGOZ FM 101.7).
In Tuesday night’s boys contest, the Trenton Bulldogs, led by senior Kiefer Tolson with 24 points and fellow senior Hunter Smith with 16, took down South Harrison by a final score of 59-47. Jett Cornett had 14 points, Khale Taggart 11 points, and Brody Templeton 10 for South Harrison.
