The University of Missouri basketball program is losing yet another promising young player in its system, with freshman Tray Jackson, following a season that saw limited playing time, planning a transfer away from the program. The decision, following the loss of freshman guard Mario McKinney in January, leaves only one recruit in Cuonzo Martin’s 2019-2020 class.
Jackson came to Missouri as a four-star recruit out of Detroit, Michigan, backing out of a verbal commitment to the University of Minnesota late in the recruiting cycle to ink with MU. In his freshman season, Jackson’s role became limited, with freshman Kobe Brown starting 26 games, leaving Jackson and his slowly-developing game to play in just 10 minutes over the final six games for the Tigers.
In 2019, Jackson was rated the country’s #81 overall prospect, while Rivals.com rated his the #16 power forward in the class.
