Mizzou’s Murphy and Mann chosen on Day 3 of MLB Draft

Missouri baseball players Chandler Murphy and Luke Mann were selected in the MLB Draft on Tuesday. Murphy, a right-handed pitcher who transferred to Missouri from Arizona, was chosen by the Tampa Bay Rays in the 12th round (363rd overall). He started 14 games for the Tigers in 2023, finishing the season with a 4-5 record and a 5.47 ERA.

Mann, a third baseman who played five seasons with the Tigers, was selected by the Oakland Athletics in the 14th round (406th overall). He was named a second-team All-SEC selection and had an impressive season, leading the team in home runs (21), hits (64), and runs scored (54). Mann also tied the school record for career home runs with 49.

Murphy and Mann joined Austin Troesser (fourth round, New York Mets) and Zach Franklin (10th round, Chicago White Sox) as Missouri players selected in this year’s draft.
