A five catch, 110 yard night at Purdue for University of Missouri freshman wide receiver Jalen Knox has earned the native of Mansfield, Texas the Freshman of the Week honors from the Southeastern Conference.

Knox’s contributions were key for the Tigers, who found themselves locked into an offensive shootout in West Lafayette, before emerging with a three point victory over the Boilermakers.  In the second quarter, Knox had a 59 yard touchdown reception from senior quarterback Drew Lock, and with his play, helped an offense missing senior Emanuel Hall, who missed most of the game with a groin injury.

The 100-yard receiving game by Knox is only the fifth by a true freshman in Mizzou history, joining Dimetrios Mason (twice in 2016), Travis Garvin (1999) and Andy Gibler (1984).

The Tigers return home this Saturday for their biggest test of the season to date, hosting the SEC East rival Georgia Bulldogs in a 11 o’clock kickoff at Faurot Field.  ESPN will have the game coverage on the television side, with coverage on KTTN FM 92.3 and the Tiger Radio Network starting at 9.  The 3-0 Bulldogs enter Columbia ranked #2 in the country in this week’s Associated Press poll, and are the defending SEC champions.
