Mizzou women’s basketball to play in 2016 Preseason WNIT

The University of Missouri athletic department, on Wednesday afternoon, announced the participation of the Tigers women’s basketball program in the 2016 edition of the Preseason WNIT.

The most high-profile program in the 16-team field are the Notre Dame Fighting Irish, a national power for many years under veteran coach Muffet McGraw.  The ACC’s Irish join Mizzou as “Power 5” teams in the event, along with the rising program from the University of Washington, and Mizzou’s former Big 12 rival, the Nebraska Cornhuskers, now a member of the Big 10 Conference.

Other schools in the field are Abilene Christian, Central Michigan, Colorado State, Eastern Washington, Elon, Fordham, Furman, Green Bay, Little Rock, North Texas, Omaha, and Texas – Rio Grande Valley.

All teams involved in the tournament will receive a guarantee of three games.  Matchups and game times will be announced in the next few weeks.
