The Missouri Tiger women’s basketball team hammered overmatched McKendree on Monday night in Columbia by a score of 80-30, with Robin Pingeton’s group now sending their focus to the regular season opener, Friday at 2:30 against Western Kentucky in the opening round of the Hawkeye Challenge in Iowa City, Iowa.

Against McKendree, junior guard Sophie Cunningham played 15 minutes, with a 13 point night.  Redshirt senior Kayla Michael added 10 points and six rebounds, with redshirt sophomore Hannah Schuchts blocking four shots.

Mizzou’s pressure defense was the early key factor in a 31-7 lead after one quarter, including a 22-2 surge to end the 10 minute blitz.  The Tigers went “full court trap” to rattle their opponent, forcing six turnovers in the early minutes of the game at Mizzou Arena.
