The rival basketball programs from the University of Missouri and University of Illinois will play in the 2022 edition of “Braggin’ Rights” on December 22nd at the Enterprise Center in St. Louis. Game time, television details, and ticket information will be announced at a later date.
This year will be the 53rd edition of the border rivalry, with the Fighting Illini holding a 33-19 advantage. Illinois, in 2021, hammered a rebuilding Mizzou squad 88-63, ending a three-game losing streak in the series, as Illinois went on a a regular season Big 10 title, and Missouri ended up firing head coach Cuonzo Martin, replacing him with Dennis Gates.
Missouri will come into Gates first season with 12 new faces, but will return All-SEC performer Kobe Brown. Despite losing Kofi Cockburn to the NBA Draft, the Illini should remain tough in 2022-2023, with Drain Dinja, Matthew Mayer, and Terrence Shannon Jr. all transferring in to Champaign-Urbana.
