The Missouri Tigers will host the Horned Frogs of Texas Christian University on Saturday, January 30th as part of the annual SEC/Big 12 Challenge.  Television designations and tip times will be announced at a later date for the 8th annual events, with the ESPN family of networks airing all 10 games scheduled in that day’s showdown.

The game will mark the first meeting between the schools since December 18, 1952.  In the era of old Brewer Fieldhouse, Mizzou and TCU met five times between 1946 and 1952, with MU winning four of the games.  Only once did the teams play in Fort Worth, as Brewer played host to the matchups in Columbia on four occasions.

The SEC/Big 12 Challenge has come to Mizzou Arena only once in the past eight years, when Missouri, behind 25 points from Jordan Clarkson, beat West Virginia on December 5, 2013.  MU is 1-2 in challenge games.

Due to the disparity in number of schools between the conferences (SEC has 14 to the Big 12’s 10), four Southeastern Conference schools (Georgia, Vanderbilt, Ole Miss, and South Carolina) will not participate in the 2021 event.  In 2020, each conference earned five wins in the series, and in the past four years, the series is dead even at 20-20.

Here are the matchups for the SEC/Big 12 Challenge on January 30, 2021:

Alabama at Oklahoma

Arkansas at Oklahoma State

Auburn at Baylor

Florida at West Virginia

Texas at Kentucky

Texas Tech at LSU

Iowa State at Mississippi State

TCU at Missouri

Kansas at Tennessee

Texas A&M at Kansas State
