If the Missouri Tigers are to improve in 2016, one would assume moving the football more consistently on offense, resulting in more points being put on the scoreboard, is a priority. While MU returns sophomore quarterback Drew Lock, across the board steps are seen as necessary for an offense looking to regain its status as one of the best in the SEC.
Running the football was a trouble spot a season ago, but that spot is looking to get a reinforcing boost of talent. Just weeks after reports indicated he had failed to register at MU, former East St. Louis running back Nate Strong apparently HAS been cleared academically and is expected to join the Tigers this summer. That information was reported by the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, citing a university source.
Strong was an all-St. Louis area first-team selection in 2014, and committed to then-coach Gary Pinkel’s Tigers. Needing to go the junior college route before joining Mizzou, Strong has been at Hinds Community College in Mississippi since January 2015, attempting to earn an Associate’s degree in time to qualify at Mizzou for the 2016 season. Last fall, Strong was tampered by an arm injury that kept him out for all but two games.
