Missouri Tigers head coach Eli Drinkwitz has signed a contract extension that will keep him with the program through the 2028 season. The extension follows a successful season in which Drinkwitz led the Tigers to their first 11-win season since 2014, including a significant 14–3 victory against No. 7 Ohio State in the Cotton Bowl.
Drinkwitz, who became Missouri’s head coach ahead of the 2020 season, originally signed a contract with the program through the 2025 season. The extension reflects the program’s confidence in Drinkwitz’s leadership and the positive trajectory of the team.
In a statement, Drinkwitz acknowledged the collective effort of players, coaches, and staff, emphasizing the hard work and commitment that contributed to building the program. The extension comes after Drinkwitz was named the SEC Coach of the Year for his outstanding performance during the season.
During his four seasons at Missouri, Drinkwitz has achieved a 28–21 record and secured four consecutive bowl game appearances. The recent Cotton Bowl victory marked his first bowl game win during his tenure at Missouri. Additionally, Drinkwitz has demonstrated recruiting success by securing a top 25 recruiting class for the third time in four years.
