MU President Mun Choi has been elected to the Southeastern Conference (SEC) Executive Committee for the 2023-24 term, with his term beginning on July 1. This appointment makes Choi the second University of Missouri staff member to join the committee since the Tigers became part of the SEC in 2012. Previously, Director of public interest Sarah Reesman served on the committee from 2020-22.
The primary responsibility of the SEC Executive Committee is to approve the conference’s annual operating budget and oversee all financial and fiscal matters related to the conference. Choi will be joined on the committee by Arkansas athletic director Hunter Yurachek, Mississippi State senior woman administrator Ann Carr, and Texas A&M faculty athletics representative Paul Batista. Starting in 2025, Choi will serve as the vice president of the committee.
Dr. Stuart Bell, the President of the University of Alabama, will serve as the president of the committee for a two-year term, while Tennessee Chancellor Donde Plowman will serve as the vice president. Ron Rychlack, the faculty representative from Mississippi, will continue in his role as the committee’s secretary, a position he has held since 2017.
