Missouri’s football program confirmed that defensive Darris Smith suffered a season-ending knee injury in practice on Tuesday.

Smith, a transfer from Georgia, was expected to play a key role on the defensive front this season.  He spent two seasons with the Bulldogs, recording six tackles and a tackle for loss.

The 6-foot-5, 240-pound edge rusher was rated four stars out of high school and received a four-star transfer rating from 247 Sports.

Missouri’s defense, which allowed nearly 21 points per game last season, will need to adjust to the loss of Smith, as well as Darius Robinson and Ennis Rakestraw Jr.
