Power forward Mark Mitchell had 19 points and point guard Anthony Robinson II 15 points and eight assists, leading the Missouri Tigers to a 75-66 win over Vanderbilt on Saturday afternoon at Mizzou Arena in Columbia.
Missouri’s defense played a starring role in the victory, holding the Commodores scoreless for the final 2 1/2 minutes of the contest, as Caleb Grill made three consecutive free throws and Mitchell had a three-point play to push the Tigers lead from two to eight points under the two minute break of the second half.
Grill finished the game with 13 points and Josh Gray 11 rebounds for Missouri (13-3, 2-1 SEC). Vanderbilt (13-3, 1-2) was led by Jason Edwards with 20 points, MJ Collins 13, and Chris Manon 10.
Missouri plays at #5 Florida on Tuesday night at 8 o’clock (7:30 pregame on KTTN FM 92.3), with Vanderbilt hosting South Carolina on Wednesday night.
