The Southeastern Conference announced men’s basketball dates, times, and networks for the 2016-2017 season on Tuesday afternoon, with the Missouri Tigers set to host marquee conference home games with Arkansas, Kentucky, and Texas A&M.
In an all-Tiger battle, Mizzou opens the 2017 SEC slate of 18 games in Columbia, hosting LSU on Wednesday night, January 4th at 8 o’clock on the SEC Network.
After the visit from LSU, Mizzou travels to Georgia, to meet the Bulldogs, in Athens, on Saturday, January 7th (12 PM, SEC Network). Â The Tigers return to Columbia for another “battle of Tigers”, with Auburn at Mizzou Arena on Tuesday night, January 10th (6 PM, SEC Network). Â The first of two meetings with border rival Arkansas follows, with MU in Fayetteville on Saturday night, January 14th (5 PM, SEC Network). Â From Arkansas, Mizzou heads to Tuscaloosa to play the Alabama Crimson Tide on Wednesday, January 18th, with a 7 o’clock tip on ESPNU.
Two of the final three games for Mizzou in January are inside Mizzou Arena, with Ole Miss in Columbia at 2:30 on Saturday, January 21st (SEC Network), and South Carolina in town on Saturday, January 28th, with a 7:30 tip on the SEC Network. Â In a mid-week contest to split those home games, MU will travel to Mississippi State on Wednesday, January 25th (6 PM, SEC Network).
In February, Mizzou travels to Florida, to play in the Gators reconfigured arena on Thursday, February 2nd at 6 o’clock. Â The game will be broadcast on either ESPN or ESPN2. Â Arkansas, two days later (February 4th) will be at Mizzou Arena for a 5 o’clock tip with the Tigers on the SEC Network.
Mizzou travels to Texas A&M (7:30 PM, SEC Network) on February 8th, and are back home on February 11th to host Vanderbilt at 2:30 PM on the SEC Network. Â Alabama travels to Columbia to tangle with the Tigers on February 15th (7:30 PM, SEC Network), before Kim Anderson’s team plays at Tennessee on Saturday, February 18th at 12 noon on the SEC Network.
The regular season begins to wind down with Kentucky at Missouri on Tuesday, February 21st, in an 8 PM tip on the SEC Network. Â The Tigers host Texas A&M for Senior Night on Tuesday, February 28th at 6 PM (SEC Network), with a trip to Ole Miss before Senior Night, with the Tigers playing in Oxford on February 25th at 2:30 PM and, after Senior Night, a rematch with Auburn, on “the Plains”, Saturday, March 4th at 2:30 PM. Â The Ole Miss and Auburn match-ups will be handled by the SEC Network.
After a one year sabbatical from the SEC Tournament, due to self-imposed sanctions, Missouri returns to its conference’s premier men’s basketball event in 2017, with the tournament to be played at Bridgestone Arena in Nashville, Tennessee from March 8th to the 17th.
