The annual caravan from the University of Missouri to Northwestern High School in Mendon is coming up on Thursday, May 5th, according to an announcement by MU, along with school alumnus and organizer Fred Carpenter.
Carpenter is confirming that Athletic Director Mack Rhoades and new football coach Barry Odom will be in attendance for the event that includes a pork chop dinner, highlight film, and comments from Rhoades and four Tiger coaches. There also could be Mizzou student-athletes with the group.
A press conference, in the Northwestern High School Library, will be held at 6 o’clock, followed by a social and 6:45 dinner. The coaches and Rhoades will speak after the meal.
Those present at the caravan, in addition to Rhoades and Odom, will be men’s basketball coach Kim Anderson, women’s basketball coach Robin Pingeton, and wrestling coach Brian Smith. The women’s program had its most successful season in 16 years, while the wrestling program continues to be highly successful, with national recognition and a national champion and Summer Olympian in J’Den Cox.
Thursday’s event is open to all alumni, Tiger Scholarship members, and the general public.
Reservations can be made by mail or phone and are recommended. There will be some tickets available at the door.
