The University of Missouri has signed C.J. Roberts of North Richland Hills, Texas to the basketball recruiting class of 2017.  Roberts, a 6 foot tall, 180 pound guard, is rated the 96th best prospect in the country by Rivals.com, and 7th best in Texas by Texas Basketball Review.  He chose MU over offers from Georgia, Ole Miss, LSU, Texas Tech, and Louisiana Tech.

In his junior season at Richland High School, Roberts averaged 22.5 points per game, including a career-high 39 in a 76-72 win over Odessa Permian on December 10, 2015.

“Now without further ado I would like to announce I am officially a Missouri Tiger,” Roberts said via Twitter. “I am very excited to start this new chapter in my life.”

The score-first point guard said that Missouri coaches told him that he will be a big part of the team.

“They just want me to come in and be an immediate impact player,” Roberts told Rivals. “They are going to put the ball in my hands and let me be a combo guard. They feel like I can make plays for myself and others and they feel like that’s a big piece that they need.”

Richland finished the 2015-2016 season in the Texas 6A state championship playoffs, after amassing a 23-9 record in Roberts’ sophomore season.  He is the first recruit for Mizzou Coach Kim Anderson in this year’s recruiting cycle.
