The Missouri Tigers have moved quickly to replace defensive line coach Jackie Shipp, adding University of Texas defensive line coach Brick Haley to Coach Barry Odom’s staff in Columbia.

Haley coached with the Longhorns in 2016, but was unlikely to keep his assistant duties in Austin after the firing of Head Coach Charlie Strong in November, followed by the announcement of Houston’s Tom Herman to take the top position with UT football.

The newest Tiger coach will be familiar with the Southeastern Conference, having served as the defensive line coach at Mississippi State (2004-2006) and LSU (2009-2014).  Mizzou Football announced the addition to Haley via a tweet sent out mid-afternoon on Friday.

At Missouri, Haley will be asked to continue the tradition of “D-Line Zou”, coaching up a young but talented group that will need to replace the numbers of defensive end Charles Harris, who recently declared for the 2017 NFL Draft.

Former Mizzou defensive line coach Jackie Shipp was fired by the university between the late-season SEC games with Tennessee and Arkansas.  He served only one season at Missouri.
