University of Missouri men’s basketball coach Dennis Gates has found continued success on the junior college recruiting trail, with John A. Logan guard Curt Lewis announcing a commitment to Mizzou on Monday.

Lewis is a 6-foot-5 inch sophomore rated #3 in the country in the 2023 JUCO recruiting rankings, according to jucorecruiting.com.  This is his first season at John A. Logan, where he is averaging 14.2 points per game.  For the prior two seasons, Lewis played at Eastern Kentucky, where he averaged 10.4 points per game.

The newest Tiger is the second recruit plucked by Gates from John A. Logan in as many years, as Sean East II is in his first season at Missouri, averaging 8 points off of the bench.  Last year’s #1 JUCO recruit, Mo Diarra, has begun to see an increase in minutes for the Tigers, with nine minutes in road losses to Texas A&M and Florida, followed by five points in Wednesday night’s win over the Arkansas Razorbacks.

Lewis will join four high school recruits in Missouri’s Class of 2023, currently ranked #20 in the country.  Anthony Robinson II, Trent Pierce, and Jordan Butler are four-star recruits (247Sports).  Forward Danny Stephens will be joining the Tiger program as a preferred walk-on.
