Ashton Feldhaus has been named as the new head women’s basketball coach at Missouri Western State University, becoming the 10th coach in program history. Feldhaus brings with her a wealth of experience, having served as the top assistant and associate head coach at Eckerd College in St. Petersburg, Florida, for the past five seasons.
During her tenure at Eckerd, Feldhaus played a key role in the team’s success, helping them make six consecutive NCAA Division II tournament appearances. Under her guidance, the Tritons achieved a program-best Sweet 16 appearance in 2023 and won the Sunshine State Conference Tournament championship in the 2023-24 season.
Feldhaus’s impressive track record and leadership qualities made her stand out in the national search process for the head coaching position at Missouri Western. Andy Carter, the Director of Athletics at Missouri Western, expressed his excitement about welcoming Feldhaus to the Griffon family, highlighting her talent, fit, and proven track record as key factors in her selection.
In addition to her coaching accolades, Feldhaus was recently named to the Women’s Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) 30 Under 30 Class, further cementing her status as a rising star in the profession.
As she takes on her new role, Feldhaus inherits a Missouri Western women’s basketball program that has enjoyed considerable success in recent years, including an Elite 8 appearance in 2022-2023 and an outright MIAA Championship in 2023-24. She expressed her gratitude for the opportunity to lead the Griffons and emphasized her readiness to contribute to the program’s continued success.
A formal press conference and public reception will be held next week to officially introduce Coach Feldhaus to the Missouri Western community, providing an opportunity for fans and supporters to welcome her to St. Joseph and rally behind the team as they embark on a new chapter under her leadership.
