In a decisive victory, the No. 16 Missouri Tigers defeated the No. 14 Tennessee Volunteers with a score of 36-7 on Saturday night. Led by walk-on running back Cody Schrader’s exceptional performance, the Tigers put an end to their four-game losing streak in the series. Schrader contributed significantly, running for 205 yards and a touchdown, catching five passes for 116 yards, and accumulating 321 yards from scrimmage—just 12 yards short of the school record set in 1998. Quarterback Brady Cook played a crucial role, amassing 275 yards passing and accounting for two touchdowns.
The win secured the SEC East for No. 1 Georgia, with Missouri improving to an 8-2 record (4-2 SEC, No. 14 CFP). The Volunteers, now with a 7-3 record (3-3 SEC, No. 13), had previously outscored the Tigers 128-48 in their two games under coach Josh Heupel.
Missouri controlled the game, holding the ball for the majority of the first quarter and over 21 minutes of the first half. The Tigers went into halftime with a 13-7 lead, but a momentum-changing field goal just before halftime and mental mistakes plagued Tennessee in the second half. The Volunteers’ penalty-prone offense and strong running attack faced difficulties, finishing with only 83 rushing yards on 23 carries.
Missouri’s win showcased a resilient performance and secured the SEC East title for Georgia before their matchup against Ole Miss on Saturday night. Tennessee will face Georgia next Saturday, while Missouri plays its home finale against Florida.
