In November, the Missouri men’s basketball team is scheduled to face both Jackson State and South Carolina State at Mizzou Arena. The games will be part of an MTE (Multi-Team Event) as per college basketball bracketologist and analyst Rocco Miller’s website, The Bracketeer. The specific dates and times for these matchups have not been announced yet.
Jackson State finished the 2022-23 season with a 14-19 record, posting a solid 12-6 record in the Southwest Athletic Conference. The team is under the leadership of second-year head coach Mo Williams, a former NBA All-Star, champion, and All-SEC player.
The Missouri Tigers have faced Jackson State on seven occasions in the past, winning all of those matchups. The most recent encounter between the two teams occurred on November 29, 2001, at the Hearnes Center, where MU secured a dominant 106-68 victory.
On the other hand, South Carolina State had a challenging 5-26 record during the 2022-23 season, with Erik Martin, a longtime West Virginia assistant, leading the team as the first-year head coach.
Missouri has played against South Carolina State once before, and it resulted in a resounding victory for the Tigers. The lone meeting between the two teams took place on December 17, 2012, with Missouri overpowering South Carolina State with a convincing 102-51 win.
As fans await the exact dates and times for these upcoming games, both Missouri and their opponents, Jackson State and South Carolina State, will be gearing up to put on a competitive show at Mizzou Arena.
The Tiger basketball program will be taking a trip to Jamaica over the upcoming week, first reported by Drew King of PowerMizzou on Thursday. The Missouri team will have an intrasquad scrimmage and play an exhibition game against a local team from the island.
On Saturday afternoon (July 22nd), the Tigers will host an open practice at Mizzou Arena, with free admission for fans for the 12:30 to 3:30 event in Columbia.
