The Missouri Tigers and head coach Cuonzo Martin have picked up a verbal commitment from New York City product Sean Durugordon, who plans to play his senior season at Putnam Science Academy in Connecticut. ESPN ranks Durugordon as a four-star recruit, with 247Sports and Rivals with a three-star rating. He chose MU over offers from the likes of Auburn, Georgia, and Arizona State. He is Missouri’s third commitment in the Class of 2021, joining point guards Anton Brookshire and Kaleb Brown, who committed to Mizzou on Monday afternoon.
Durugordon has more natural size than Brookshire and Brown, at 6-feet, 7-inches, but does have the ability, if needed, to switch between the small forward and off-guard positions.
With his defensive prowess, he can be a solid two-way player. According to Rivals, Durugordon has a 7-foot wingspan, which will be crucial for his perimeter defense with Missouri.
It’s early, but the class of 2021 is shaping up to be the deepest recruiting class Cuonzo Martin has had at the guard position since 2018. That group featured Xavier Pinson and Torrence Watson. With three commitments before September, Missouri’s class sits at No. 32 in the nation according to 247Sports.
