A pair of long-time rivals with new head coaches will join the Salisbury Panthers and Princeton Tigers in a four-team high school football jamboree at Cal Hubbard Field in Milan on Friday night, August 19th. Milan will be led by new head coach and former Wildcat defensive coordinator Mark Cole, with Putnam County heading to Milan with new head coach Adam Huse, hired this offseason after a recent run as coach of the Marshall Owls.
Scrimmages will begin at 7 o’clock, with the order of matchups seeing Putnam County play Salisbury, followed by Milan battling GRC rival Princeton. Putnam County meets Princeton in the third match of the night, with Milan taking on Salisbury and Princeton battling Salisbury to follow. Milan and Putnam County, who will meet to begin GRC play on Friday, September 9th, will meet in the final scrimmage of the night. Starting at 6 o’clock, Smithfield will provide tailgating at “The Pit”, with pulled pork, hot dogs, chips, water, and soda pop, with a pay what you want, eat what you want set-up. Proceeds go toward the Milan Booster Club. Admission will be $4.00 for adults and $3.00 for students, with a discounted price for those attending both the football jamboree and the softball jamboree with Milan, Princeton, and Gallatin at American Legion Field earlier in the day, with prices for that option set at $6.00 for adults and $4.00 for students.
Other jamborees coming up on Friday night will see Pattonsburg, Platte Valley, and DeKalb head to North Andrew High School in Rosendale for a four-team event starting at 6 o’clock. Admission prices will be $4.00 for adults and $3.00 for students.
The order of games at North Andrew will be: North Andrew vs. Pattonsburg, Platte Valley vs. DeKalb, DeKalb vs. North Andrew, Platte Valley vs. Pattonsburg, Pattonsburg vs. DeKalb, and North Andrew vs. Platte Valley.
Another eight-man jamboree will take place at Worth County High School in Grant City, with admission for the four-school scrimmage set at $4.00 for adults and $3.00 for students, with senior citizens and children kindergarten and younger admitted free. The order of contests will be: Albany vs. Worth County, Stanberry vs. King City, Worth County vs. Stanberry, King City vs. Albany, Albany vs. Stanberry, and Worth County vs. King City.
Concessions will be available at the Worth County event on Friday, August 19th.
