Milan pulls away from Brashear late, in 10 run road win

The Milan Lady Wildcats scored 7 runs in the top of the 6th inning, breaking open a tight game in a 12-2 win at Brashear, improving the Lady ‘Cats overall record to 2-1, going into a GRC East contest at 5:30 Tuesday night at Princeton (on KTTN FM 92.3).

Milan, on Monday night, got a second straight superb performance from senior left-hander Kenna Michael, who struck out six batters, and gave up only two runs (one earned), over seven innings of work.  Michael, with her legs, scored three runs.  Emily Mason scored the only two runs of the night for the Brashear Lady Tigers.

Courtney McCollum continues to be a spark at the bottom of the Milan lineup, reaching base all 4 times she came to the plate.  Breanna Sawyer was 2 for 2 with a double, Sam DeRyke 2 for 4, Shelby May 2 for 4, and Maddie Schoonover 2 for 3 with a double.

Putnam County beat Marceline on Monday night by a final score of 7-6.  For the Lady Midgets, Kennedy Childers was 3 for 4 with 2 runs scored and 2 RBI’s, with Sammi Bradshaw earning the pitching win.  Bradshaw, Kendall Ingersoll, and Stephanie Stout all had two base hits.  Stout added 3 RBI’s.

In HDC softball action on Monday night, Pattonsburg got the best of Grundy R-5, winning by a score of 18-3.
