Playing against Sporting Kansas City back-up goal keeper Andrew Dykstra, Brent Kallman earned a draw for Minnesota United with a successful header in the 84th minute, as the two Western Conference MLS rivals played to a 1-1 draw on Saturday night at TCF Bank Stadium in Minneapolis.
On the game-tying effort, Kallman took a cross-pass from Abu Danladi, and headed it by Dykstra. Regular Kansas City starter Tim Melia was removed from the game in the 59th minute, after grabbing at his right hamstring and noticeably limping.
Sporting (12-7-12) opened the scoring in first-half stoppage time, with Diego Rubio taking a pass from Latif Blessing and driving it into the net with his left foot.
With the point, Kansas City moved into sole possession of second place in the Western Conference.
