The Meadville Eagles, playing the Bevier Wildcats on Tuesday night, took a pair of victories. The Lady Eagles defeated BHS 44-28, while the Meadville boys, behind 25 points from Jase Cowan and 21 from Dillon Seckington, took down the ‘Cats 59-42. Bevier had 18 points from Cody Shaver with Lee Allen adding 13.
In other area ‘non-tournament’ action, the Gilman City Hawks were dominant in a pair of HDC Conference wins at Tri-County. Hailey Burrows led all scorers with 29 points in the Ladyhawks 68-36 victory. Megan Cottrell had 17 and Haize Wilson 12 points for GCHS. In the boys contest in Jamesport, sophomore Kaleb Bjornlie scored a game-high 22 points to lead the Hawks over the Mustangs, 72-16. Mitch Sievering had 16 points and Cornelius Peery 12 for Gilman City.
The LeBlond boys won a non-conference home test against traditionally-tough Mid-Buchanan 51-44, while the Chillicothe boys, despite 15 points from Cade Snyder, and 11 each from Walker Graves and Jack Willard, were dumped by Maryville 54-48.
The East Buchanan girls took a Tuesday night win over Maryville, winning in Gower by a final score of 47-33.
