On Monday afternoon, the Iowa Hawkeyes defeated rival Minnesota 86-77 in a Big Ten game at Williams Arena in Minneapolis. Valparaiso transfer Ben Krikke scored 25 points, and Josh Dix, starting in place of the injured Patrick McCaffery, added 21 points. The victory made Fran McCaffery the winningest coach in Iowa program history, securing his 272nd win as a Hawkeye.
McCaffery surpassed Dr. Tom Davis for the most victories in program history. Dix played a crucial role, scoring eight straight points to give Iowa a 67-56 lead. Iowa will face No. 2 Purdue in their next game, while Minnesota travels to play perennial conference power Michigan State on Thursday night.
