In a ECHL Game 3 first-round matchup at Tulsa’s BOK Center on Friday night, the Kansas City Mavericks emerged victorious with a 3-1 win over the Tulsa Oilers. Justin Nachbaur ignited the scoring for the Mavericks with just 5:54 remaining in the opening period, converting a breakaway opportunity with a well-placed finish past Julian Junca.
In the second period, Jeremy McKenna extended Kansas City’s lead to 2-0, capitalizing on an early opportunity just 2:05 into the frame, leaving the Oilers trailing heading into the final period.
Despite the pressure, the Oilers mounted a comeback effort, with Jamie Rome notching their lone goal of the game with 15:05 remaining in the contest. Rome’s goal marked the first postseason finish of his rookie career, narrowing the Mavericks’ lead to 2-1.
However, the Mavericks maintained their composure, ultimately sealing the victory with Patrick Curry netting his second empty-net goal of the series, securing a 3-1 win for Kansas City.
With the series continuing, the Oilers will look to bounce back as they return to the BOK Center on Monday night for a do-or-die game four, seeking to turn the tide in their favor and keep their postseason hopes alive.
