Maryville High School junior Serena Sundell has made her collegiate decision, committing to play at Kansas State University.  Sundell chose the Wildcat program over numerous Division 1 offers, including the likes of St. Louis University, Providence, Colorado State, and UMKC.  Her hometown Northwest Missouri State Bearcats offered the high-scoring Spoofhound guard in her freshman season.

Sundell, in an interview with the Maryville Daily Forum, indicated that the “collegiate-town similarities between Maryville, Missouri and Manhattan, Kansas” played a factor in her decision.

KSU is coached by former Missouri Western head coach Jeff Mittie, who has won 100 games at K-State over the past six seasons.  Mittie coached the MWSU Griffons from 1992 to 1995.

At Maryville High School, Sundell has been coached by Quentin Albrecht, former girl’s basketball coach at Trenton High School.
