The Miami Marlins dominated the St. Louis Cardinals in a 15-2 victory, powered by a strong offensive performance. Jesús Sánchez led the way for the Marlins, hitting a home run, two singles, and collecting four RBIs. Joey Wendle and Jorge Soler each had two doubles, while Garrett Cooper contributed with a home run and two singles.

Marlins starter Jesús Luzardo pitched six scoreless innings, striking out eight batters. He was effective against a strong hitting Cardinals lineup, finding ways to attack them and prevent any runs from scoring.

Cardinals starter Adam Wainwright had another short outing, lasting less than four innings for the third consecutive time. He was lifted after issuing consecutive one-out walks in the fourth inning. Wainwright has been dealing with shoulder discomfort and will be placed on the injured list. The 41-year-old veteran gave up seven runs, four earned, and seven hits in the game.

The Marlins took an early lead with a three-run first inning, highlighted by Sánchez’s three-run homer. They continued to build on their advantage, scoring runs in multiple innings, including a three-run fourth inning that extended their lead to 7-0.

Marlins center fielder Jonathan Davis suffered a right knee contusion while attempting to make a diving catch in the fifth inning. He was carted off the field and will undergo additional tests, although X-rays revealed no fracture.

The Marlins’ offensive outburst, combined with Luzardo’s strong pitching performance, led to their victory. They set a season high in runs against Wainwright and the Cardinals’ bullpen.

In the next game of the series, the Cardinals have not announced a starter, while the Marlins will send RHP Bryan Hoeing to the mound.
