The powerhouse Marceline Lady Tigers broke open a scoreless tie with two runs in the top of the 2nd inning, then quickly expanded the lead with six runs in the 3rd inning, and seven more in the 4th, run-ruling the Trenton Lady Bulldogs 15-0 on Monday night.

Marceline, the Lewis and Clark Conference champions and #1 seed for next week’s district tournament, racked up 12 hits against Trenton’s Emma Roberts and Jenna Reeter, who combined to pitch four innings, with each getting two frames.  Roberts gave up seven hits and eight runs, including a pair of home runs to the Tigers.  Reeter gave up five hits and seven runs, walking three.  Each Trenton hurler had one strikeout.

Trenton committed three errors, leading to two of the Marceline runs to be of the unearned variety.  The Lady Bulldogs hits (one each) came from Madi Moore, Eliana Cowling, and Jenna Reeter.

Trenton’s opponent to end the regular season next Monday night will be the Chillicothe Lady Hornets, who are having their best season since the days of Sarah Baldwin a decade ago.  Chillicothe, on Monday night, hammered LeBlond in MEC action, 14-0 in five innings, clinching at least a share of the conference crown for CHS.
