The Class 1, District 6 boys golf tournament was contested on Monday afternoon in Moberly, with the Westran Hornets blitzing the course to a team score of 312, beating the runner-up total of Lewis and Clark rival Marceline by 50 shots (362). LaPlata finished third at 380, with Milan at 399 for sixth place, followed by Putnam County’s 7th place total of 409.
Individual medalist honors went to South Shelby’s Kanon Kendrick, with a one-under par round of 69. The Marceline Tigers, by virtue of their second-place finish, will advance all five of their golfers to the Section 3 tournament next week. For Marceline in district play, Cullen Bruner shot 77 for third place, Colby Sims 84 (7th place), Seth Cupp 98 (18th place), Jacob Stallo 103 (27th place), and William Heller 110 (30th place).
Putnam County’s Jaden Wyant advanced through to sectionals, with an 8th place score of 88, followed closely by a finishing total of 92 from Milan’s Kaleb Weaver, advancing him to the sectional round. Carter Quint of Putnam County shot 98, moving him forward in an 18th place tie, while Milan’s Tate Morehead just made the cut, with a 22nd place score of giving him the last individual qualifying score.
