The Missouri Mavericks, playing in Game 4 of the ECHL’s second-round playoff series against the Allen Americans, saw a third period rally come up short, in a 4-2 American win.  Allen now has a chance to close out the #1 seed in the playoffs with a victory in Game 5, Sunday afternoon at 4:05 at the Allen (Texas) Event Center.

Allen, in Friday night’s tilt, took a 2-0 lead, with markers at 14:29 of both the first and second periods.  Missouri cut the lead to 2-1 just 11 seconds into the third period, as Tyler Barnes “lit the lamp”, with assists to Drian Dziurzynski and Carter Verhaeghe.  The game was tied at 2 just over three minutes later, when Ross Johnston scored.

The game-winning goal came on an admitted “lucky bounce”, as Allen’s Spencer Asuchak scored for the home team.  An empty-net goal sealed the outcome.
