Sporting Kansas City fell to a 2-1 defeat against Minnesota United FC at Allianz Field in St. Paul on Saturday night. Despite a late first-half goal from Alan Pulido, Sporting was unable to find an equalizer in the second half.
Minnesota took an early lead through Michael Boxall’s goal in the second minute, and doubled their advantage through Tanitoluwa Oluwaseyi in the 25th minute. Pulido pulled one back for Kansas City in the 38th minute.
Sporting had chance in the second half, including a free kick from Daniel Salloi and a chance for Pulido, but were unable to level the score. The loss marks Sporting’s first road defeat of the season.Â
Sporting remains on the road next weekend, taking on Real Salt Lake at America First Field on Saturday night, May 4th at 8:30 p.m. CT.
