Lions down Bulldogs in Trenton’s regular season finale

The St. Joseph Christian Lions opened their new baseball park with an 11-2 victory over the Trenton Bulldogs on Monday night, in the regular season finale for THS.

Christian, after two scoreless innings, put up four runs off of Trenton starter Drew Rorebeck in the third inning, extending the lead to 6-1 after four innings and adding a five spot in the 5th inning to put the game away.  Rorebeck went four innings for Trenton, allowing nine hits and 10 runs (only five earned), with three walks and seven strikeouts.

Avery Cooksey pitched 1/3 of an inning, walking two and allowing one run, with Jesse Farmer pitching the final inning and 2/3rd’s for the Bulldogs.  Hunter Dugan had a pair of base hits, with Cade Darting adding two hits in three at-bats, and Mason Owen and Jesse Farmer getting one hit each for Trenton.

Trenton High School will now prepare for the school’s first-ever postseason baseball game, Saturday afternoon at 1 o’clock against the Plattsburg Tigers in quarterfinal action at Mid-Buchanan High School in Faucett.  The Bulldogs are heading into the postseason with a six-game losing streak.
