Lions beat Bulldog volleyball in three-set sweep

Trenton High School’s varsity volleyball team ran into a one-loss juggernaut on Monday night, falling to St. Joseph Christian by a score of 25-8, 25-15, 25-12.  Despite the loss in her team’s home finale, coach Pam Bowden said the Lady Bulldogs “played well despite the scores as an indication”.

In the varsity setback, Evy McCullough had five kills, three assists, three blocks, and two digs.  Kenzie Yuille and Jessa Shipley both had four digs, Ava Simpson nine assists and two kills, with Lilly Berti contributing three kills and two digs.

Trenton lost the JV match to St. Joseph Christian 25-14, 25-22.  Ally Yoder had four kills, Nautica Dowling three kills, Kaylea Boyle four assists, and Abby Simpson three assists for the Lady Bulldogs.

Trenton finishes the regular season at Savannah on Tuesday night.  Next week, Trenton will join Brookfield, Hamilton, South Harrison, and Carrollton in the five-team Class 2, District 16 tournament at Carrollton High School.

In the first-round, on Monday, October 26th, #4 seed Brookfield will take on #5 seed Penney.   That winner advances to the semifinals to battle Carrollton on Tuesday, October 27th.  In the other semifinal that night, #2 Trenton takes on #3 South Harrison.  The district championship game will be played on Thursday, October 29th at 6 o’clock.

The Chillicothe Lady Hornets, last (Monday) night, improved to 7-8 with a five-set MEC win over Lafayette 25-15, 24-26, 23-25, 25-16, 15-11.  Maya Snyder had nine kills, 12 assists, and 12 aces, along with eight digs for Chillicothe, with Jessica Reeter adding 20 assists, and Essie Hicks 10 kills and nine digs.
