The Linn County girls and boys will play for District 11 championships, after the Lady Mustangs defeated the Grundy R-5 Lady Panthers in Wednesday night’s semifinal at Green City High School, 52-46.
In their final game of the 2016-17 season, the Lady Panthers were led by Matana Munday with 15 points. Â Zoe Littleton contributed 10. Â Linn County, with the win, advances to the Class 1, District 11 championship game, to play the host Green City Lady Gophers, Friday night at 7:30.
Green City doubled up Atlanta in the first semifinal of Wednesday night, 64-32. Â The Lady Gophers, now 18-5 on the season, picked up 27 points from Tri-County Conference MVP Brooke Littrell. Â Atlanta, a fellow member of the Tri-County Conference, finishes the year at 9-15.
The Class 1, District 11 boys championship game will be played on Friday night at 6 o’clock at Green City, as the #1 seed Novinger Wildcats take on the #2 seed Linn County Mustangs.
The District 11 champions advance to Class 1 sectional play on Tuesday night, February 28th, at Chillicothe High School.
