Ellie Smith of Lawson High School shot a 12-over par score of 84 to outlast Cameron’s Lexi Hutton and Abby Linhart runner-up score of 87, winning the 2020 Lawson Invitational Tournament, played in drizzle and chill at the Hidden Valley Course in Lawson.
Trenton High School’s two junior golfers played very well, with Josie Chumbley’s round of 106 tying Kennedy Wrisinger of Richmond for 16th place. Trenton’s Mari Atup shot 118, tying Grace Heater of Bishop LeBlond for 29th place.
Madi Jessen of East Buchanan finished in fourth place at 88. Cameron’s Kennedy Roach and Smithville’s Kali Brown tied at 90 for 5th place, followed by Pleasant Hill’s Caris Bloom at 93 (tying her with Pleasant Hill’s Karis Bloom), Smithville’s Kenzie Moes 95, and Abby Daffron of Plattsburg in a 10th place tie with Hannah Norris of Richmond, both at 97.
Cameron won the team event with a score of 364, followed by Smithville’s 385 and Pleasant Hill at 411. Lawson with 440 was 5th, while the Penney Lady Hornets shot 478, for 6th place.
