Lawson’s Smith, Cameron Dragons win Chillicothe Golf titles

Ellie Smith of Lawson High School carded a career-best round of 76 to cruise to the individual title at Thursday’s Chillicothe Invitational at the Green Hills Course in Chillicothe.  Taking the team title, with a score of 379, were the Cameron Lady Dragons.  The 379 of Cameron was 18 shots better than runner-up Kirksville.

Chillicothe’s senior Hallie Jones took the runner-up position with a 18-hole score of 82, with Southwest Livingston’s Makenna Campbell in 7th place at 95.  

For the Trenton Lady Bulldogs, both Josie Chumbley and Mari Atup showed strong improvement from rough outing the previous week, with Chumbley carding a 111, including a 4 on #2, 5’s on Holes 6, 8, 9, and 13, and a 3 on Hole #16.  Mari Atup shot 119, with her best scores, a series of 5’s, coming on Holes 1, 4, 5, 6, and 14.  Chumbley finished in a 31st place tie, with Atup in a 45th place tie.
