An 18-hole golf tournament was contested at the Hidden Valley Course in Lawson on Wednesday afternoon, with 15 schools sending their squads to the Lawson Tournament titled event.
Of the schools involved, all six KCI Conference teams that offer the sport of boys golf were involved, with the event doubling up as the 2022 KCI Tournament.
Winning the Lawson Tournament individual title by tiebreak was Gallatin’s Brody Bird, after he and Cameron’s Brady Stice both shot 75 over 18 holes.Ā Higginsville’s Logan Russell shot 79 for third place, followed by Princeton’s Ashton Clapham with a fourth-place 80, and Gallatin’s Logan Bottcher tying Cameron’s Tucker Hermanson for fifth place, both at 83.
Trenton’s top score of 85 was turned in by Kiefer Tolson, good for a 9th place tie with Isaac Bird of Gallatin and Hunter McCoy of Higginsville.
Other area scores were 95 from Trenton’s Riley Gott, John Schreffler of Princeton at 96, Gallatin’s Jordan Donovan at 97, Hamilton’s Riley Henderson with 99, Hamilton’s Corbin Henderson at 106, Clay Finch with 110, and Austin Snow 111.Ā Trenton’s Hunter Ledgerwood checked in at 111, Hamilton’s Nate Wyckoff 113, Princeton’s Noel Schreffler 113, Trenton’s Bo Meeker 113, Princeton’s Levi Willett 115, and Trenton’s Jake Schmadeke 117.
Gallatin won the team championship with a four-man score of 340, followed by Cameron’s 344, and Richmond’s 374.Ā Princeton and Trenton finished in a flat-footed tie for 6th place, both at 404, with Penney at 426.
Lathrop won the KCI Conference championship with a score of 375, followed by East Buchanan at 401, and Lawson’s 415.Ā Penney High of Hamilton, with a score of 426, was fourth.
Max Gagnon of Lathrop won the individual championship with a round of 86, one stroke better than Carson Thompson of East Buchanan, and two strokes better than the third-place 88 of Tristan Walters of 88.Ā Riley Henderson’s 99, representing the Penney Hornets, was good for 7th place.
