The Lawson Lady Cardinals played a dominant brand of volleyball on Saturday, winning the KCI Conference Tournament championship in action from East Buchanan High School in Gower.
Lawson was the top seed in Pool A, contested on Saturday morning in the elementary gymnasium, and rolled to wins over the Penney Lady Hornets, Mid-Buchanan, and Lathrop. The 3-0 performance advanced the Lady Cardinals into a semifinal duel with West Platte, with Lawson winning that contest, and taking the final over the Lathrop Lady Mules.
Lathrop was the #2 seed in Pool A, and went 2-1 in pool play, defeated Mid-Buchanan and Penney, and falling to Lawson. Lathrop beat East Buchanan in the semifinal round. East Buchanan went on to beat West Platte for third place.
Mid-Buchanan went 1-2 for a third place finish in Pool A, with the Lady Dragons only win coming against Hamilton, with the Lady Hornets finishing 0-3.
In Pool B, East Buchanan took wins over North Platte, Plattsburg, and West Platte; with West Platte grabbing triumphs over Plattsburg and West Platte. Plattsburg’s victory came against North Platte, with the team out of Dearborn finishing 0-3.
In the consolation semifinals, Mid-Buchanan downed North Platte and Plattsburg defeated Penney. Mid-Buchanan won the 5th place duel with Plattsburg, with North Platte downing Penney for 7th place.
